How to advertise on YouTube, What is YoutubeADS

* What is a YouTube ad?

Google Advertising is a way to advertise your video content on YouTube ads, YouTube or search results, which you can maximize your user reach. This can be your video play before one person watches another's video or before people appear in full on YouTube search results.

* Types of YouTube ads

There are six types of YouTube ads:

1. TrueView Advertising

2. Stream ads that cannot be omitted

3. Bumper instream ads

4. Sponsored card advertising

5. Overlay ads

6. Display ads

Before you start your first promotion, it's important to understand the type of each YouTube ad. That way, you can create your ad for the format you plan to use.

Let's get to know each of them.

* What is a YouTube TrueView ad?

YouTube ad in TrueView in stream

This is the original ad format on YouTube - and that's why we'll cover this in more depth than others.

Give TrueView Advertisers maximum control over the ads they see. For this, Google reports that eight out of ten viewers prefer TrueView over in-stream video ad formats. But TrueView ads are also great for business.

Advertisers only pay for TrueView ads when users watch for at least 30 seconds, watch a full short video, or interact with an ad in some way, such as a click-to-action click.

And advertisers save money as they reach a more interested audience so that visitors can choose the ads they want to see and avoid the ads they don't.

YouTube has stated that the maximum length of a TrueView video ad can be 6 minutes and the minimum 12 seconds.

Now, there are two types of TrueView ads: In-stream ads and Discovery ads. Let's take a closer look at each of them.

* TrueView Instream Ads

Play in front of TrueView in-stream ad viewers' selected videos. The image below contains a Trueview in-stream ad opening:

*TrueView In-Stream YouTube Ads Ad

In-stream ads also have a small countdown timer and a link to the ad site at the bottom left of the screen.

What's more, TrueView In-stream ads have a collaborative banner ad that appears in the sidebar at the top right of the suggested videos list.

*Display YouTube ads

Marketers are able to customize TrueView in-stream ads with call-to-action and text overlays.

* TrueView Discovery Advertisement

TrueView Discovery ads will appear in the sidebar on the right side of the YouTube search results and on the top of the Watch Videos list.

The ads contain thumbnails of one image and three texts.

The image below shows a TrueView discovery ad for the movie trailer above the organic YouTube search results:

*TrueView Discovery Discovery YouTube Ads

Clicking on Discovery Ads will take users to the YouTube Watch page or the relevant channel page to watch the video.

* Why should you use YouTube TrueView ads?

TrueView ads are a great way to reach your target market.

First, they are less risky.

Remember, you are only charged when viewers choose to view your entire ad, view it for at least 30 seconds, or interact with the ad in any way.

That's really cool.

Because even though 76% of customers avoid these ads reflectively, you can at least be sure that your budget is being spent for interested visitors.

Second, you are not limited by time limits as TrueView ads are opt-in.

This means you can watch various creative formats such as product demos, testimonials or how-to videos.

For example, they have used testimonials and product demos in their TrueView ads grammatically. In fact, a huge 54.4% of their social media traffic comes from sites.

What's more, according to Google, when brands use TrueView, they'll see up to 500% increase in existing content views.

Now, let's check out other forms of YouTube ads.

*What is a YouTube non-abandoned in-stream ad?

Ads that go out of stream are basically the same as TrueView in-stream ads - you guessed it - viewers aren't able to avoid them. These ads are not considered 'TrueViews' because they have less audience control. It is common knowledge that ads that cannot be avoided are not popular.

In fact, YouTube discontinued the 30-second unpublished ad format last year. Today, ads that cannot be omitted must be within 15 to 20 seconds. Apple shows a YouTube ad that the following image cannot avoid:

* Excluded YouTube ads

Skip-to-stream ads don't just run before the video.

There are also unavoidable YouTube ads that play video piecemeal for 10 minutes or more - they are also known as 'mid-roll' YouTube ads that are omitted.

In contrast to TrueView ads, advertisers pay for a YouTube ad that can be avoided on a CPM basis. ‘CPM’ refers to the cost per match, which means advertisers pay a fee per thousand views.

So it's especially important to target your ad so you don't waste your budget ad on bad prospects. It is also important to remember the effectiveness of CPM advertising.

Where per-click-per-click (PPC) advertising is the ideal potential for conversion tops, cost-per-match (CPM) advertising is more appropriate in branding promotions designed to achieve greater exposure, such as the Apple example above.

* What is a YouTube bumper ad?

Bumper YouTube ads are the third type of YouTube video ads available to marketers. These non-excluded video ads are played before the viewer's selected video and must be less than 6 seconds long.

Like excluded YouTube ads, advertisers pay for bumper ads on a CPM basis. Many brands use it as part of a larger YouTube ad campaign featuring other ad formats.

* Bumper YouTube ads

Obviously, bumper ads are not the ideal format for stories, testimonials or product demos. But the 6 second time limit can be a great catalyst for creativity.

For example, see the bumper ad on Mercedes:

* What are YouTube Sponsored Card Ads?

The YouTube Sponsor Cards appear in the video as a small Call-to-Action (CTA) popup. Sponsored cards are a very offensive form of YouTube advertising. A small ‘I’ symbol pops up in the top right corner of a video and when a viewer clicks on it, the card expands.

In the image below, you will see the text displayed when you hover my mouse over the icon.

* YouTube Ad Sponsor Card

* Sponsored card YouTube ads

YouTube Sponsor Cards can display YouTube videos and products via Google Shopping. Google has an effective guide to help you create a shopping campaign using cards

* What is the YouTube overlay ad?

Overlay ads are probably the simplest form of YouTube advertising. This is a banner ad that appears alongside the bottom of the videos.

The following example shows a banner ad for Hawkers:

* YouTube tricks

Overlay ads can also be text-based, such as the following example:

* Text overlay YouTube ads

* What is a YouTube display ad?

Display ads is another common YouTube ad format. These ads have been around for a while and will appear in the sidebar at the top right of the suggested videos list.

2. Display YouTube ads deeply
